Almost 19,000 children from Chisinau municipality will be able to attend the summer camps managed by the municipality or contracted by the local authorities this season. 15% of the tickets to the camps are offered free to children form socially disadvantaged families.
Contacted by IPN, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Valentina Cujba said the socially deprived families can go to the administration of the school to ask for free tickets and need to provide the necessary documents. Free tickets are offered to students with special educational needs, students from socially disadvantaged families, one-parent families and families in difficulty and to students whose parents have disability degrees. The students who achieved special results at school in the course of the year will also attend the summer camps free of charge.
Valentina Cujba also said that not all the tickets provided free are usually distributed. Therefore, it was decided to reduce their share from 20% to 15% in 2016.
The day camps already stopped work. Almost 30,000 children have attended them this year. The resident camps will work by the end of summer. Parents pay only 20% of the price of the ticket, while the rest is covered by the municipality. Thus, the parents pay 250 to 289 lei a ticket.
The Chisinau Municipal Council allocated over 25 million lei for organizing the summer vacation this year. An extra 3 million lei was allotted for preparing the summer camps.
