Free services for victims of domestic violence

The victims of domestic violence and of gender-based violence will benefit from free legal, psychological and medical assistance. The Association “Promo-LEX”, the Association against Violence “Casa Marioarei” and the Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims “Memoria” will cooperate in this regard within the project “Increasing the respect for women’s rights in Moldova through combating gender-based violence” that is implemented with support from the EU Delegation to Moldova, IPN reports.

According to the case manager of the Association against Violence “Casa Marioarei” Veronica Cernat, the victims of domestic violence and their children will be offered temporary shelter, during one month to six months, and in the period will benefit from psychological, social and legal assistance.

“Many of the women who come to us do not have a job. That’s why we cooperate with the partners so as to train them and teach them a job. Many of the women do not have an insurance policy and do not have access to medical assistance. By this partnership, the problem will be solved,” Veronica Cernat told a news conference.

Liliana Spataru, coordinator of the Rehabilitation Center for Torture Victims “Memoria”, said an individualized approach will be adopted to each woman and child. All the medical examinations will be free.

Each of the three organizations will set up an information office for victims. The victims that will seek help from one of these organizations will be informed about all the services from which they can benefit free of charge.
