Members of the European Youth Forum distributed masks against pandemic flu and leaflets about the symptoms and effects of the disease free of charge to passersby in central Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. “On the occasion of the Youth Day, we decided to launch the campaign “Healthy Young People in Moldova”. Given that many students got infected with pandemic influenza and the drugstores experience shortages of protection masks, we offer masks free of charge,” said Andrei Pavaloi, the head of the European Action Movement’s European Youth Forum. The passersby thanked the young people, saying the action is welcome now that there are not enough masks. “I go to the drugstore to purchase a mask every day, but I cannot find one. I will wear this mask everywhere. From Monday, we resume classes and we need protection there,” said student Natalia, a passerby. Another passerby said she made several masks herself, but will wear this one as it is better. She took several masks for her children as well. Some of the passersby expressed their surprise. “We are looking for masks all over the city and cannot find some, but these young people give them gratis. Such gestures will make us stronger in the fight against pandemic flu.” The members of the European Youth Forum planned to distribute about 1,000 masks during five hours.
