Nine endocrinologists of the National Clinical Hospital will provide free consultancy in connection with World Diabetes Day that is annually marked on November 14. All those who want can have examinations between 10am and 1pm, without scheduling an appointment. The patients need only a health insurance policy. The results will be announced immediately after a blood specimen is collected, IPN reports.

In a press release, the National Clinical Hospital says that over 90,000 persons suffer from diabetes in Moldova. One in two persons with diabetes hasn’t been diagnosed yet. The screening to detect type 2 diabetes is important for being able to intervene and prevent the appearance of complications such as loss of blood, loss of renal function, cardiovascular diseases, leg amputation, etc. Up to 70% of the cases of type 2 diabetes can be prevented or complications of the disease can be avoided by leading a healthy lifestyle.

The screening for the active and early detection of tardive complications of diabetes is an essential element for managing diabetes.
