Doctors of the Chisinau Oncology Institute will provide free consultancy on cancer prophylaxis to all those who want within the Anticancer Week between June 2 and June 7, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Oncology Institute, the goal of the event is to raise public awareness of the early detection of oncologic diseases and to draw attention to the dangers posed by these diseases that can be treated if they are detected on time.
The number of people diagnosed with cancer has increased. There were 8,441 people suffering from cancer in Moldova in 2013, as against 8,204 in 2012. The cancer mortality rate last year was 5,835 per 100,000 people, as opposed to 5,734 in 2012.
The colorectal cancer in 2013 accounted for 12.3% of the deaths, breast cancer for 11.8%, while lung cancer for 10.5%.
