Free elections will be a clear signal for Brussels and Washington, minister

The parliamentary elections of next February are the main test for democracy in the Republic of Moldova and the main chance for the country to restore the normal relations with Brussels, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovski was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Moldova live” on Moldova 1 channel.

“This does not mean that if the elections are held democratically, transparently and freely, everything will be ideal. But it will be a clear signal for Brussels and Washington that the efforts are continued, that we work in the justice sector and investigate the banking fraud, that the reforms in the financial-banking sector are being completed,” said the minster.

Tudor Ulianovski described the bilateral relationship between Moldova and Romania as being not only strategic, but also appropriate. “They are extremely important first of all for Chisinau, for the Republic of Moldova, given that from commercial viewpoint Romania is the main partner of the Moldovan producers,” he noted.

As regards the recent events in Ukraine, the minister said there are now no dangers when crossing the state border with the neighboring country, but the citizens should first inform themselves about the situation in Ukraine from official sources before starting a journey.
