Free circulation in Transnistrian region extended until July 1

Tiraspol extended until July 1 the period for ensuring the unhampered movement to the localities situated on the left side of the Nistru and in the municipality of Bender and when leaving these. The Reintegration Policies Bureau said the decision comes as a result of the continuous requests made by Chisinau and the addressing of the free movement issue in all the existing formats of dialogue, including during the recent visit to the Republic of Moldova paid by the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, IPN reports.

“Similar to the period between April 30 and June 1, it is excluded the obligation to coordinate the entry or leaving of the region with the local “crisis centers” and the restrictions imposed in the period between March 17, 2020 and April 29, 2021, by obeying the individual protection rules or in public places,” the Bureau said in a press release.

Also, the officials or public functionaries who intend to make private visits to the Transnistrian region can travel freely and without pre-notification and obtaining of confirmation of the permission to travel in the region. This mechanism was agreed in negotiations in September 2019, but was suspended by Tiraspol in March 2020 – April 2021.
