Francophone Film Festival opens in Chisinau

Twelve recently made movies will be screened in Chisinau within the 13th Francophone Film Festival. The event will be opened at the Gaudeamus Cultural Center on March 23, starting at 6pm, IPN reports.

The festival will be opened by the Romantic comedy “Spring of women”, which will be subtitled in Romanian. It was produced in 2011 and was nominated at the Cannes.

The following movies will be shown the next days: “De vrais mensonges /Real lies” (March 24), “Polisse/Guarding angels” (March 26), “Le Havre” (March 29), “Les Infidèles /The unfaithful” (March 29), and “Le gamin au vélo/The boy with the bicycle” (March 30). They will all be subtitled in Romanian.

A series of movies will be shown in the original: “Le Chat du Rabbin/The Rabin’s Cat” (March 24), “Le Code A Changé/Change of plans” (March 25), “Louise Wimmer” (March 25), “Les Femmes du 6ème étage /The women from the sixth floor” (March 28, March 31), “Go Fast” (March 30), and “Les Beaux gosses”/Some children” (March 31).

Besides Chisinau, this year the festival will take place in Tiraspol and Balti. A number of movies will be shown there with subtitles in Russian or Romanian.

Contacted by IPN, Gaudeamus Cultural Center manager Lidia Troianowski said that all those who want can take part in the festival. Only “The unfaithful” is banned to persons younger than 18, while “Guarding angels” is not recommended for children under 15.

The festival lasts for a week. Entrance is free of charge.
