Franco-German Culture Week opens in Chisinau May 25

The Franco-German Culture Week will take place in Chisinau between May 25 and 28. The activities planned as part of this event will start in front of the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM) on Monday, at 14.30, with a rally throughout the city, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau. The cultural program is organized by the Embassy of Germany and the Embassy of France in Chisinau, the French Alliance and the German Center “Accente” in cooperation with Robert-Bosch Foundation. The activities will be hosted by the ULIM, “Onisifor Ghibu” Public Library and the French Alliance in Chisinau. During the week, there will be shown German and French films and taught training courses in German and French. There will be held a roundtable meeting and a musical soirée. A contest of questions and answers with prizes will be organized at the end of the week. The Franco-German Culture Week will center on the close and special friendship relations between Germany and France. After centuries or rivalry and two World Wars, the two political personalities, Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer, in 1963 signed a reconciliation agreement between the two countries, which is known as Elysée. The cooperation between Germany and France became an impetus for the European integration process and remains until now for many a successful model of neighborhood policy. “The Franco-German cooperation in Moldova must emanate synergy and contribute to the development of ideas that could help overcome barriers and conflicts that hinder progress,” the communiqué from the Embassy of Germany says.
