FoxMart accused of tax evasion of millions of lei

Tax inspectors found undeclared goods to the value of 127.5 million lei at two companies that founded the chain of FoxMart stores. The damage caused to the state by not paying VAT was assessed at 21.2 million lei. Besides, there weren’t paid other taxes too.

The information was communicated in a news conference by Eduard Balan, the head of the press service of the Main State Tax Inspectorate, IPN reports.

“This case of tax evasion represents a record for the State Tax Service in the last few years,” said Eduard Balan.

After being provided with relevant information, the State Tax Service sent inspectors to carry out inspections and to inventory the goods at three companies that founded the FoxMart chain. At two of them, there were discovered considerable differences between the data indicated in the accounting documents and the stored and sold goods.

Measures are now taken to recover the caused damage.
