Four polling stations for Sunday’s elections will be opened for Romanian citizens in Moldova
The Romanian citizens that will be in Moldova on November 25, when European elections and a referendum on the introduction of a uninominal voting system will be held in Romania, will be able to cast their votes at four polling stations (by two for each event) that will be opened at the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau located on 66/1 Bucharest St and, respectively, at the Embassy’s Consular Section situated on 39 Vlaicu Parcalab St in Chisinau.
The Romanian Embassy says in a pres release that in order to vote, the Romanian citizens must have a valid identification document: identity card, temporary identity card, simple, work or diplomatic passport or travel authorisation. All the Romanian citizens voting in Moldova will fill in a standard form showing that they have not voted using another identification document on the same day.
The Romanian citizens that do not have valid identification documents can apply for travel authorisations at the Embassy’ Consular Section beforehand. These authorisations will enable them to vote. The issuing of travel authorisations is simplified if the applicants present passports that expired less than a year ago or other identification documents with photographs, for example a driver’s license. In this case, the travel authorisation is issued on the same day. If the applicant cannot present such documents, the identity of the applicant must be confirmed by relevant Romanian authorities. This process can take several days.
To obtain travel authorisations, the applicants should present the documents identifying them and two recent colour photos 3.5 x 4.5 cm. They will receive the necessary forms at the Consular Section of the Embassy.
To ensure the smooth running of the two events and to avoid crowdedness towards the end of the voting process, the Romanian Embassy asks the citizens to come to the polling stations on time. The stations will close at 21:00, the press release says.
The elections and referendum will be held on Sunday, November 25, between 07:00 and 21:00.
