Four policemen were hurt during the September 17 anti-government protest. One of them was hit in the head with a hard object, while the other three complained about pain after, as the General Police Inspectorate informed, a minibus entered the crowd and headed for the police cordon, IPN reports.

The Inspectorate’s deputy head Gheorghe Cavcaliuc told a news conference that the acts of the minibus driver were classed as dangerous acts against the police. It was established that this is investigated in another criminal case concerning dangerous acts aimed against the police. The criminal case was started after a protest mounted on April 24 this year.

Gheorghe Cavcaliuc noted that the protest, which the organizers announced as a peaceful demonstration, degenerated into violence. The competent bodies will examine the actions or inaction of the organizers and participants in the protest. The Inspectorate’s deputy head said the police didn’t use teargas against the protesters and called on those who have video or photo evidence to submit this to the police.

According to a press release of the General Police Inspectorate, the person suspected of entering the crowd with the minibus during the protest mounted near the building of the public TV channel Moldova 1 was arrested for 72 hours. This is a 50-year-old man from Chisinau municipality who didn’t comply with the legal requests of the police and used violence against them. A criminal case was started over threatening or use of violence against a person holding a responsible post or a person fulfilling the public duty.

The police specified that the owner of the minibus – a man aged 43 living in Bubuieci commune of Chisinau municipality - tried to flee by moving on the counterflow lane on Soseaua Hancesti St, but he was stopped by the patrolling police. He got a fine of 4,000 lei and three penalty points and his minibus was seized.
