Four persons, two of whom were teenage girls, drowned on June 19 and last night. Rescuers warn the population to go swimming only in authorized places and to be maximally prudent when in the water.
Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said the teens aged 15 and 17 were sisters. The girls swam in the Prut River near Macaresti village of Ungheni district and didn’t come out. Frogmen continue to look for them.
Two cases of drowning occurred in the Nistru River. A girl aged 22 drowned near Gura Bacului village of Anenii Noi district on June 19, while a 24-year-old man drowned near the beach of Vadul lui Voda town in the morning of June 20.
Rescuers warn being very attentive when swimming and avoiding diving in unknown places. Those who cannot swim are advised not to go deep in the water. The minors must not be left unsupervised. Swimming while under the influence of alcohol is not recommended.
According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, 32 persons, eight of whom minors, died in the rivers and lakes of Moldova so far this year.
