The mayor of Ghelauza village of Straseni district and three representatives of companies were arrested as a result of searches performed at over 20 locations on November 20.
Press officer of the National Anticorruption Center Angela Starinski has told IPN that the searches that include the seizing of documents are carried out within a criminal case concerning rigging of tender contests to distribute millions of lei from the Ecological Fund to implement local projects. The searches continue at mayor’s offices and head offices of companies that benefitted from the fixed tender contests.
When the operation is over, the National Anticorruption Center will provide more details about the arrested persons and the essence of the case.
