Four new citizens for Moldova
Four individuals of Armenian or Cyprian origin have taken their oaths today, July 5, to become citizens of the Republic of Moldova; the oaths were taken in front of Nistor Grozavu, Deputy Mayor of Chisinau, the City Hall said in a press release.
Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu gave the new citizens of Moldova a warm “welcome”, and advised them to actively involve in social activities, in order to contribute to the State’s prosperity.
According to the relevant legislation, in order to obtain or re-gain citizenship of Moldova, the applicant must take an exam to demonstrate his knowledge of Moldova's official language, history and basic legislation. A special commission from the Government examines the application, after which the decree of the President is emitted. Consequently, applicants take their oath in front of the Municipal Mayor or Head of District.
Since 2003 until present, 348 individuals who live in Chisinau have obtained Moldovan citizenship, 17 of whom were registered this year.
