Four new bridges across the Prut. Infrastructure projects with Romania

The meeting of the Moldovan-Romanian working group on transport infrastructure takes place on February 5-7. Officials are addressing the modernization of rail and road networks, digitalization of transport and improving cross-border connectivity, IPN reports.

On the agenda are strategically important projects, such as the completion of works on the Balciu railway segment, the reopening of the Cahul-Giurgiulesti line and the development of road infrastructure by building a new bridge over the Prut at Ungheni. Works are also planned to build new bridges at Stânca, Răducăneni, Bumbata and Falciu, as well as modernizing the existing ones at Albița, Oancea and Sculeni.

"Our cooperation with Romania aims not only to modernize transport networks, but also to create concrete opportunities for business and increase trade flows," said Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova.

According to MIDR, Romania plays a key role in supporting these projects, providing expertise and funding for the development of modern and efficient infrastructure. The main objective of this partnership is to integrate transport networks to European standards.
