Four documentaries from the national archive will open the Documentary Film Festival for Social Change MOLDOX that will take place in Cahul during September 23-28.
The four films are: “Cahulenii” about how Cahul was built; “Codrii”; “In Colibasi” and “Sun Land”. In a news conference at IPN, the Festival’s director Max Carlan said the soundtrack will be removed and substituted by music performed live by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” that is conducted by Ilie Croitoru Rotila.
“The opening will include a video-art projection show with images by Dziga Vertov. After the screening of the film “Raving Iran”, there will be staged a special event – a techno underground party “Raving Cahul”,” stated Max Carlan.
Eight documentaries made by lyceum students from Cahul in a workshop will be shown at the Festival. The films are about theater, school or the experienced personal problems. There will also be mounted an exhibition of colored plates, which will be brought to the Festival by the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Among the screenings is the film “Good morning, Transnistria”, which was made by Norwegian directors Fabien Greenberg and Bard Kjoge Roninng. These went to Transnistria and filmed two “very interesting” personages.
The Festival’s public this year will include ten detainees who will see the film “Marta and Niki”, produced by Swedish director Tora Mkandawire Martens. “We encourage all the social strata to come to our screenings. Entrance is free and transport is also free,” said Max Carlan.
Each day during September 23-28, a bus will set off from Chisinau to Cahul in the morning and will return to the capital city after the screenings, at about 8pm. Details are available at www.moldoxfestival.com.
