Four persons suspected of taking part in the murder of a 39-year-old man from Vulcănești village of Nisporeni district on May 25 this year were arrested for 72 hours. The police during the arrest seized arms and munitions and are taking measures to see if these were held legally, IPN reports.
According to the National Investigation Inspectorate, the four persons aged between 21 and 38 were hiding on the territory of Chisinau municipality. The 24-year-old man from which a gun fired at the victim was seized was placed in remand detention for 30 days earlier.
Two criminal cases were started in this case, over murder and hooliganism. The culprits face up to 20 years in jail or life for murder and at most seven years behind bars for aggravated hooliganism.
A group of people from Vulcănești on May 31 protested in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Chisinau, demanding to objectively investigate the murder committed in their village. They also requested that the case should be taken over by the PGO as the local investigators were bribed by the murder author according to them.
On June 3, the PGO announced that the case was transferred to the General Prosecution Division of the Ministry of the Interior’s General Police Inspectorate.
In the evening of May 25, a man was shot dead by a group of five persons in front of his house before the eyes of his wife and a minor child. Witnesses said the individuals fired for seven times from two guns.
