Four more candidates for the presidency of Moldova requested the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register their initiative groups for collecting signatures in their support, IPN reports.
According to the Commission, these are the candidate of The Right Ana Gutu and independent candidates Ion Dron, Valeriu Giletski, and Oleg Brega.
Under the electoral legislation, within three days of the receipt of the submitted documents, the CEC verifies their accuracy and decides whether to register the initiative group or not.
To run in the elections, a candidate must collect at least 15,000 signatures in his support. The deadline is September 29. The signatures are collected based on subscription lists issued by the CEC after registering the initiative group.
So far the CEC registered nine initiative groups for collecting signatures in support of candidates fielded for the October 30 presidential elections.
