The Transnistrian side in the Unified Control Commission (UCC) refused Thursday to sign a report on the so-called security zone, citing an 'unauthorized installation' of four surveillance camera on police buildings in Tighina, Info-Prim Neo. Ion Leahu, member of the Moldovan side, said “the Transnistrian delegation chose an obstructive position, citing a very simple issue, which they use to obtain political benefits”. “It's only now that they've noticed a couple of cameras put up in the yard and the building of the Tighina police station. The separatists allege that Tiraspol's consent was required to install them. We tried to demonstrate them that they were wrong, but we failed, because they simply want to draw some media attention and complain that the Moldovan side are undermining the equality in the Chisinau-Tiraspol relationship”, says Leahu. According to him, the other items on Thursday's business agenda of the UCC's meeting didn't get to be considered either. “The Transnistrian delegation are always picking some minor issues which they advance on the top of the agenda and because of which the UCC is unable to proceed in making important decisions. They are always looking for some minor issues to spill dirt on the Moldovan side. Those four cameras were installed for security reasons, after the building of the police station had been set on fire in 2004. They've noticed them only today and decided that it contradicts the bilateral agreements. It's a plan to tense the relations and foil every effort to ensure stability in the security zone”, declared Leahu.
