The explosion that occurred in an apartment building on Independenței St in Chisinau in the evening of February 22 happened as a result of the violation of the fire safety rules when using natural gas equipment. This is the first version formulated by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, IPN reports.
The blast occurred in a common kitchen on the second floor of a six-story apartment building. As a result of the blast, four persons suffered injuries. Initially, it was reported that three persons were hurt.
Three minors aged one, ten and 16 were taken to the municipal hospitals “Valentin Ignatenco” and “Emilian Coțaga”. The minors aged one and ten suffered minor injuries as they were outside the building when the explosion happened. The boy aged 16 suffered first-, second- and third-degree burns on his hands and face as he was inside the kitchen. A woman, who was also outside, was injured slightly.
