A boy aged only four days was abandoned by his mother on a bench near the toilet of the maternity hospital of the Mother and Child Center. The child is well and was admitted to the newborns care division. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the institution’s director general Marin Rotaru said the boy is healthy. “He weighs 3.7 kg and is 52 cm long. He was dressed in clean and warm clothes. His mother was discharged the fourth day after delivery, but before leaving she decided to abandon him,” he stated. He added that when the boy was found, there were called the law enforcement bodies and contacted the child’s grandmother. According to the General Police Commissariat, the biological mother abandoned the child intentionally. She is a student aged 20 from Soldanesti district. She told the police that she experiences financial problems. The child’s father left her and did not inquire about the newborn. The young woman has a two-year-old child who lives with her parents. A criminal case was started on the given case. The young woman faces a fine of up to 4 000 lei, community service or up to two years in prison.
