Nine customs posts from both sides of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border will be equipped with modern video surveillance systems in the framework of a project implemented by the International Organization for Migration in Moldova, with a total budget of €4.44 million, IPN reports.
According to the Customs Service, the customs posts Otaci, Criva, Tudora and Vulcănești will be outfitted in Moldova, while in Ukraine - Moghiliov-Podolsk, Mamaliga, Starokazacie, Vinogradovka and Platonovo. The monitoring and data processing center of the Customs Service will also be modernized.
The system will have a series of advanced properties, such as reading of license plates, monitoring of the clearance time by each authority present in the post or processing of data about the weight and size of trucks when information is collected. Furthermore, the system will enable to exchange data online between the customs services of the two states.
Of the of €4.44 million, €3.552 million is provided by the EU as part of the Eastern Partnership Integrated Border Management Flagship Initiative for (2014-2020), while €888,000 is the co-financing of the Governments of Moldova and Ukraine.
