An apartment in a residential building in Balti was engulfed in flames on Thursday morning. No casualties were reported because no one was in the apartment when the fire broke out. However, the fire fully destroyed a room. Four firefighting crews intervened and the residents of the block were evacuated to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the call to the 112 service was received at 11:00 a.m., after flames were observed on the sixth floor of the building. Immediately after the four teams of rescuers and firefighters arrived at the scene, all the people who were in the block were evacuated.
The fire was extinguished in about half an hour, but the room where the fire broke out burned completely, with all the goods that were inside. Specialists are to establish the circumstances and cause of the fire.
According to the Inspectorate, the rescuers and firefighters during 24 hours dealt with over 30 risk situations.
