Four creation unions evicted from building situated on Pushkin St

The four creation unions that have their offices on 24 Pushkin St were forced out by the foundation “Moldova's Future”. The foundation's chairman Alexandr Mushchinski argued the four creation unions have debts of 800,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The people came to work in the morning, but were met by several persons who barred their access. Alexandr Mushchinski told them the foundation has the right to block the doors, under the Economic Court of Appeals' decision of June 9. “We informed you three months ago that you must pay the debts and sign a contract with the foundation. Now you use the offices illegally,” he said. Folklorist Andrei Tamazlacaru, senior employee of the Union of Musicologists, said he found out about the decision from a third person “I was told in secret that the doors will be closed at 6am and the police will be called if somebody will force an entry,” he said. The Union's deputy head Parascovia Berghie said the creation unions were informed only about the lawsuit between the Impresarios Agency and the foundational “Moldova's Future”, not yet about the barring of access. “We were to have meetings with sponsors today, for the jubilee festival “Maria Biesu” that will take place in September. We put them off. If we remain without office, we remain without home,” she said. Ion Taban, the administrator of the Theater Union, said the Ministry of Culture informed them that until the lawsuit between the Impresarios Agency and “Moldova's Future” is over, they will pay only for the public utilities. He also said the last hearing will take place in August. “Moldova's Future” claimed the building after the Ministry of Culture's Impresario Agency headed by Oleg Baraliuc allowed it to use this building and the one situated at 18 Alexandru cel Bun St for a period of 29 years, under a contract signed by the parties in September 2009. The Ministry of Culture, which owns that buildings, did not approve it. The transaction took place two days before the Ministry of Culture was taken over by Minister Boris Focsa. In a news conference earlier, Oleg Baraliuc said that the Impresario Agency could not manage the given buildings as all the money collected from impresario work was used to pay salaries and for public utilities. He stated the buildings were transferred to the foundation with the consent of former Minister of Culture Artur Cosma so that the transaction is perfectly legal. The new administration of the Ministry of Culture asked the Economic Court of Appeal to terminate the given contract. The court ruled in favor of the foundation and the Ministry challenged the decision in court. Boris Focsa ordered examining the Impresario Agency, which “absorbed millions of lei from the public budget and remained with a debt of 3 million lei.” The four creation unions have over 350 members.
