Founders of Foundation of “Mircea Eliade” Lyceum to be questioned

Two of the founders of the Foundation of the Chisinau Lyceum “Mircea Eliade” were summoned to the National Anticorruption Center on January 21 to provide explanations within the investigation started over the collection of unofficial payments from students’ parents. Another three persons are to present themselves at the Center on January 23, IPN reports, quoting a note from the Center.

Last week, parents wrote on social networking sites that they were told to pay 3,100 lei tuition and 3,000 lei into the lyceum’s Foundation. The National Anticorruption Center announced that two complaints about the collection of informal payments at the given lyceum were submitted to the Buiucani Prosecutor’s Office.

The Ministry of the Education also holds an inquiry. It reiterated that the parents cannot be obliged to pay money to education institutions, while the managers of these institutions are banned from collecting and managing donations coming from other sources than the state budget.
