The Chisinau-based Foundation “Chernobyl’s Echo” celebrates 15 years of activity. On this occasion, the organization’s administration on November 23 staged the Open Doors Day, blessed the foundation’s center and officially opened two occupational therapy workshops that started work about a month ago, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We put a lot of soul in everything we do. There is much honesty, longing, resistance and patience here,” said the foundation’s head Natalia Hasan. Forty persons with disabilities are trained in manual bookbinding and computer use at the two workshops. They can learn and practice the two jobs. The aim is to identify the potential of every young person and realize it by developing skills that will later facilitate their social and professional integration,” said Natalia Hasan. Attending the event, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said charity acts should be promoted all over Moldova and thus the Ministry will continue to support the Foundation “Chernobyl’s Echo”. “We experience many troubles in life, but it is very important that we do not ignore the problems faced by those who are near us,” said the minister. Ombudswoman Aurelia Grigoriu said that such a center is very important and its administration did a good job. In the name of ombudspersons, she awarded a diploma to Natalia Hasan for her contribution to promoting and defending the rights of the persons with disabilities. A group of priests held a service and blessed the center. There was instituted the Charity Cross of the Foundation “Chernobyl’s Echo” that was handed over to the organization’s partners. The award will be given every year for different merits. The Open Doors Day forms part of the Identify the Value Project that is being implemented in April 2011 – October 2012 in partnership with the Romanian Foundation “Near You”. The project to the value of almost €150,000 is co-financed from the European Social Fund through the Joint Operational Program Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova 2007 – 2013.
