The Republic of Moldova received a consignment of 46 refrigerators shipped through the agency of the COVAX Facility. The equipment will be distributed to public health centers all over the country, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the batch consists of 30 refrigerators for keeping vaccines at temperatures of – 15 °C/ – 25 °C and six refrigerators for keeping the doses at temperatures of +2 °C/ +8 °C.

The consignment to the value of over €34,000 represents technical support for containing the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Moldova and for implementing the National Immunization Plan.

The COVAX Facility is led by the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi), the World Health Organization and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations. Through the COVAX Facility, UNICEF is working with manufacturers and partners on the procurement of COVID-19 vaccine doses, as well as freight, logistics and storage.
