Farmers' Force (Forta Fermierilor) Association announces protests on Wednesday in front of the Government and on Thursday in front of the Parliament. Representatives of the association also reserve the right to organize massive protests across the country if the state authorities do not take measures to stop the collapse in agriculture, IPN reports
A statement by the association said that the crisis in agriculture is deepening day by day and the government has failed to understand that without effective and urgent measures, the public budget, budget workers and the country's population will suffer.
"The latest example of the procrastination in adopting measures to save the situation in agriculture would be the Government's delayed endorsement of the draft Law 354, drafted by MP Alexandru Trubca, together with farmers' associations." "This delay is the last straw," the association's statement said.
The Farmers' Force demands the urgent approval of the draft law as drafted by MP Trubca. The farmers are also asking for the extension of the cereal and oilseed import license until December 31, 2025. The demands also include the payment of subsidy debts for 2023, the reimbursement of farmers' excise taxes for 2024, and the development of a mechanism of loan guarantees and refinancing for the new agricultural year 2025.
"The Farmers' Force Association, if it is not heard, will demand the resignation of the Government, and further massive protests could turn into political ones", warns the Farmers' Force.
The legislative initiative on support measures for drought-affected farmers was not considered by Parliament last week, as the draft did not have the Government's opinion.
