Mihail Formuzal was reelected as Governor of Gagauzia. According to the preliminary results, Formuzal won the second round of voting on December 26 with 51.59% of the vote. His opponent Nicolai Dudoglo polled 48.4% of the ballot, Info-Prim Neo reports. The observers said the elections were conducted in a calm atmosphere, but there were identified a number of irregularities. Voter turnout was 57% and the elections will be thus validated. Under the local electoral legislation, the results of the second round of voting are validated when the turnout is at least one third of the people eligible to vote.
