Formuzal asks Putin to grant Russian citizenship to Moldovans working in Russia

The Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal and chairman of the local People’s Assembly Dmitri Constantinov sent an open letter to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, asking employing a simplified procedure for the Moldovans applying for Russian citizenship, IPN repots.

According to the information published on the official website of the Gagauz administration, the request was made following the new rules imposed on migrants who want to work in Russia. The leaders of Gagauzia consider that the obtaining of Russian nationality would enable the Moldovans to benefit from the social guarantees provided by this state.

The Gagauz administration argues that a simplified procedure is needed because the Moldovans working in Russia can contribute to the economic development of the Russian state and can thus become respectable members of Russian society.
