The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office took legal action against the former vice commissioner of Ialoveni, who now heads the Offenses Investigation Division of the Ialoveni Police Inspectorate, demanding a jail term of 14 years for him. The prosecutors also ask for 12 years in jail for two investigation officers of the same inspectorate, IPN reports.
The three are accused of committing offenses within an organized criminal group, passive corruption and abuse of power. The ex-vice commissioner of Ialoveni was also charged with keeping of large quantities of narcotic substances and illegal keeping of guns.
In a communiqué, the Prosecutor General’s Office says that on October 2, 2011 two persons informed the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office that the three police officers asked and received national and foreign currency equal to 144,000 lei from them for not starting a criminal case over robbery against them.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office instituted legal proceedings over passive corruption.
