Dinu Țurcanu, former district head of Orhei, was found guilty of driving under the influence. The Orhei Court punished him with 240 hours of community service, while also cancelling his driver’s license.
The court heard that on August 5, 2023, Țurcanu was pulled over by the police. A field breathalyzer test performed on Țurcanu returned a result of 0.53 mg/l of alcohol, indicating an advanced state of intoxication.
The court ruling says that if the convict avoids community service, it will be replaced by imprisonment, at a rate of one day for each 4 hours of undone work.
The sentence may be appealed to the Balti Court of Appeal.
