Ion Butmalai was found shot to death in an apparent suicide today in his Cahul home. The body of the former Liberal-Democrat MP was found by his wife.
General Police Inspectorate spokesperson Sabina Cojusnean has told IPN the shot was fired from Butmalai's legally possessed gun.
Police are investigating the case.
