Former MP Anatolie Zagorodnîi, who is prosecuted on illicit enrichment charges, is back in custody, after prosecutors successfully appealed a lower court’s decision to put him under under house arrest.
The information was confirmed to IPN by prosecutor Mariana Cherpec, a spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Zagorodnîi is one of the five former MPs that were arrested on February 2 as a follow-up to an older investigation into the defection of a group of Communist MPs to the Democratic Party back in 2015. Besides Zagorodnîi, Sergiu Sîrbu, Vladimir Vitiuc and Artur Reșetnicov are also in custody, while Violeta Ivanov has been under house arrest pending trial.
