Ex-ministers of the Communist Government headed by Zinaida Grecheanyi and current Socialists MPs were included in the list of candidates for the posts of councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council on behalf of the Party of Socialists (PSRM). The party’s candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Zinaida Grecheanyi made such an announcement in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

According to Zinaida Grecheanyi, the PSRM’s list of candidates for the Chisinau Council will include former minister of health Larisa Catrinici, former deputy prime minister Andrei Stratan, and Socialist lawmakers Ion Ceban and Vlad Batrancea, who could renounce the seats of MP in favor of those of municipal councilor. “I want to create a team of professionals who will be able to change things in the capital city,” said Grecheanyi.

She also said that the Party of Socialists’ candidate for the post of mayor of Balti municipality was also designated. “It is not Renato Usatyi. It is a person who is well known in Balti and who will be able to do a lot to develop this municipality,” she stated.

Zinaida Grecheanyi noted that the PSRM fielded her as a candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau because she is not a party member. “Chisinau does not need politics or geopolitics. It is important to bring things in Chisinau in order. In general, I think those who enter the administration of a mayor’s office should avoid politics,” said the MP.

She admitted that she has a good relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was established when she was Prime Minister. “I and Igor Dodon went to Moscow not to take pictures, but to lay solid foundations for cooperation. If the law bans us from using photos with Russian officials, we will not use them, but will monitor attentively the situation so that other election contenders do the same,” said the PSRM’s candidate.
