Former minister and ambassador Iacob Timciuc leaves Communists Party

Iacob Timciuc, an active member of the Communists Party (PCRM), announced his decision to defect from the party as “it turned into an anti-national and anti-state organization.”. The leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said the people get used to high-ranking positions and become angry when they remain without them. Iacob Timciuc became a member of the PCRM in 1998. The same year he entered the Parliament on the Communist ticket. In the Tarlev Government, Iacob Timciuc was Minister of Energy (2001-2005). In 2006, he was named Ambassador of Moldova to China.
