Former minister and ambassador Iacob Timciuc leaves Communists Party
Iacob Timciuc, an active member of the Communists Party (PCRM), announced his decision to defect from the party as “it turned into an anti-national and anti-state organization.”. He made his announcement after the plenary meeting of the PCRM's Central Committee held on March 17, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“A small group of people usurped the political executive, brought new people and promotes them and ignores the opinions of the other members of the party so that it became anti-national,” Timciuc said irritatedly.
The leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said the people get used to high-ranking positions and become angry when they remain without them.
Iacob Timciuc became a member of the PCRM in 1998. The same year he entered the Parliament on the Communist ticket. In the Tarlev Government, Iacob Timciuc was Minister of Energy (2001-2005). In 2006, he was named Ambassador of Moldova to China. In 2009, in the Greceanyi Government 2, he was Minister of Local Public Administration.
