The criminal case started against a former member of the Administration Board of the commercial bank “Moldova-Agroindbank” (MAIB) and three accomplices over illegal dispossession of shareholders of shares and money laundering was sent to court, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the accomplices of the ex-bank employee include his brother, the manager of a database of an independent registrar and an employee of the Rascani Police Inspectorate of Chisinau.
The anticorruption prosecutors established that in 2010-2013, the four implemented an illegal scheme to obtain a number of shares of MAIB so as to be able to choose persons from this group as chiefs of the bank’s administrative bodies. There were identified a series of shareholders that were to be illegally dispossessed of shares. These included 73 companies and two private individuals.
The culprits managed to dispossess the two persons of over 17,000 shares to the value of about 20 million lei by falsifying powers of attorney and then transferred these to offshore companies.
The four face up to 15 years behind bars.
