An ex-investigation officer of the Ciocana Police Inspectorate was scented to 13 years in jail for illegal distribution of drugs. The sentence was passed by the Ciocana branch of the Court of Chisinau, IPN reports.

In the trial, it was established that the investigation officer created a group for trading in heroin. During August – October 2016, using his post, he transmitted 390 grams of heroin to the eight members of the group for selling this.

Before the judges, six of the offenders accepted blame, asking to try the case according to a simplified procedure. The group members got 8 to 10 years behind bars.

The former investigation officer was also banned from holding posts in the law enforcement agencies for a period of five years.

The sentence is not yet definitive and can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court.
