Former director of Civil Aviation Authority reinstated

Octavian Nicolaescu, ex-director of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), was reinstated in the post by a court decision, IPN reports.

The CAA today informed that Octavian Nicolaescu held this post in October 2018 – September 2019, managing in the period to foster the development of civil aviation. “Mister Nicolăescu will continue his professional path, contributing to the continuous development of the area in his charge and ensuring the safe activity of all the aviation agents,” runs the institution’s press release.

A day ago, the CAA issued another press release whereby it draws the society’s and authorities’ attention to the intention of criminal factors to exert their influence in the civil aviation sector of Moldova. It noted that covert groups are trying to reinstate the former head of the Authority Octavian Nicolăescu after he was dismissed on October 8, 2019 following serious violations in his activity that resulted in serious financial damage. The Authority reiterated its position concerning the legality of the dismissal of the ex-head, who committed serious financial deviations that resulted in damage to the public budget.
