Former Culture Ministry employee suspected of passive corruption

Officers of the National Anticorruption Center arrested the ex-head of the Culture Ministry’s Law Service on suspicion of passive corruption. He was put under arrest for 72 hours and is in the Center’s custody, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Center, the jurist asked for €1,000 from a female employee of the institution in reward for helping her to become employed. He demanded that the woman give him her salary card and the password so that he could withdraw the money himself.

The man faces up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to 60,000 lei.
