Former civil servant to be tried for abuse of power and forgery of public documents

The North Service of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office sent a legal case opened against a former civil servant of the Edinet Mayor’s Office to court. The former employee is accused of abuse of power and forgery of public documents, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the press unit of the General Prosecutor’s Office. The man is suspected of illegally making a decision allowing an economic entity to buy the building of the former dormitory of the local Pan Halipa High School while he worked as secretary of the Town Council and the Mayor’s Office of Edinet. According to prosecutors, the former employee broke the law because making such decisions was the prerogative of the Town Council. The damage caused to the budget of the Edinet Mayor’s Office was assessed at about 362,000 lei. The former employee is also accused of forging a number of decisions of the Town Council, transferring public plots of different sizes under his ownership and the ownership of his son and other persons. The prosecutors established that these matters have never been discussed at the meetings of the Edinet Town Council and no such decisions were made, the signatures of the chairpersons of the meetings being also forged.
