Prosecutor Remus Moroz, who headed the Hâncești Prosecutor’s Office in 2011-2021, is investigated for unjust enrichment. The home of the prosecutor was searched on Thursday and this was familiarized with the decision to class him as a suspect, IPN reports.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said that searches today were also conducted in the car and in a villa owned by the former chief prosecutor of Hâncești district who now serves as a prosecutor in the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office.

“When being questioned, he denied any wrongdoing and refused to make statements about the circumstances of the case investigated by prosecutors, reserving his right to prepare his defense position,” noted the institution.
