Three men, among whom is a former employee of the Border Police, are investigated for smuggling cigarettes. The police carried out searches at a number of addresses in the morning of January 11, IPN reports.

The searches were conducted in the municipality of Bălți. There were found almost 9,000 cigarette packs made in Moldova. The market price of the seized lot is over 200,000 lei.

The suspects are aged between 27 and 43. They are to be questioned by prosecutors and the necessity of preventive detention will be decided afterward.
