Viorel Barca, one of the former presidents of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii who is investigated in the case concerning the release of bad loans, was arrested and remanded in custody following a decision taken by the Chisinau Appeals Court on May 18, IPN reports.

Earlier today, the Appeals Court rejected the prosecutors’ request to remand another former president of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii Ilan Shor, who is under house arrest, in custody. The given decision is irrevocable.
