Tudor Soitu considers that he was discharged from the post of deputy chairman of the Audit Office because he identified irregularities in the thermoelectric sector. In a news conference at IPN, he said that his dismissal is illegal and represents a blow to the independence of the Audit Office. Soitu also believes that the institution’s chairman Serafim Urecheanu carried out an election campaign during the two years in office.
“My insistence that the thermoelectric complex should be verified led to my dismissal,” said Tudor Soitu, adding that Serafim Urecheanu was influenced from outside to discharge him. According to him, Serafim Urecheanu hides details from audit reports and falsifies public documents.
Tudor Soitu said the Audio Office chairman does not have the necessary qualifications in auditing. He invited Serafim Urecheanu to carry out audits at SA Moldova-Gaz in parallel and then to compare the two reports to see how professional they are.
Tudor Soitu also said that after an audit at Moldelectrica, Serafim Urecheanu didn’t inform the police bodies about the irregularities discovered there. “Urecheanu told the head of the General Police Inspectorate Ion Bodrug, who asked for data, that such a document does not exist. His interest in the thermoelectric sector is too great. He does not want to spoil the relations with Russia. I accuse not Russia, but those who allowed violating certain norms,” said the ex-deputy chairman of the Audit Office.
According to Tudor Soitu, functionaries of Moldova-Gaz, who do not live in Moldova, are paid salaries of 50,000-60,000 at a time when the ordinary people cannot pay for public utilities with their salaries.
Tudor Soitu was dismissed last weekend. The decision adopted by Parliament was based on the request of the Audit Office chairman Serafim Urecheanu.
Contacted by IPN, the Audit Office’s press service said Serafim Urecheanu will have a reaction to the accusations made against him later.
