The former and present administrations accuse each other of not settling the Transnistrian dispute. In the program “Politics Live” on the national TV channel, Communist MP Igor Dodon stressed the unwise statements of the Moldovan Government lead to the worsening of the relations with Tiraspol. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov replied it was the Communists Party's actions that contributed to the deterioration of the relations with Transnistria, Info-Prim Neo reports. Igor Dodon said the Transnistrian conflict settlement process is directly influenced by the statements made in Chisinau. “Ghimpu's statements are extremely important at this stage and represent a great obstacle to the negotiation process,” Dodon said, adding the Communists Party, while in power, had taken many steps to bring the banks of the Nistru closer – former head of state Vladimir Voronin met with the Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov, joint working groups were created to deal with different issues of interest, etc. The political stability established by the former Government was destroyed as a result of the April 7, 2009 events, Igor Dodon said. “Now the Government must have a clear view on how to settle the dispute. But until we call ourselves Bessarabians and this land Bessarabia, the conflict will not be resolved,” he said. Victor Osipov responded the measures taken by the PCRM were inappropriate. “The PCRM took a series of steps to solve the conflict, but there were unsuccessful,” the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration said. Victor Osipov stated the first meetings of Vladimir Voronin and Igor Smirnov were 'very romantic', while the statements made during them were to Moldova's detriment. He added the present administration made attempts to bring things in order, but the PCRM refused to vote in the head of state and thus new early elections will be held. Attending the program, Democrat MP Oazu Nantoi said the Transnistrian dispute is not resolved because the Tiraspol regime does not want it. He stressed a solution must be identified by peaceful ways, adding most of the people living on the left bank of the Nistru are Moldovan citizens who suffer because of the Transnistrian regime.
