Former AMN members join Mihai Godea’s movement

A group of former councilors of the Cahul District Council and a number of representatives of public and private institutions in a news conference on July 4 announced that they decided to join the Alternative Democratic Platform (PAD) because the long-awaited changes promised by the ruling parties are not brought about, Info-Prim Neo reports. More than 100 persons, who are mainly former members of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN), intend to join the Alternative Democratic Platform. “I worked for the Moldova Noastra Alliance for many years. I defected from the party because I expected reforms and changes, but nothing happened. We were offered to join the Liberal Party, alongside the European Action Movement, but we refused. We are tired of political games. We have waited for a movement to appear and propose a real, democratic alternative to the government. The team of the Alternative Democratic Platform inspires trust and we consider it is a promising organization,” said Gheorghe Mandru, head of the Culture Division of the Cahul mayor’s office. The group that joined the PAD also includes the acting head of Cahul district Gheorghe Vasilache, deputy head of the Association of Afghan War Participants from Cahul district Ion Axenti, director of the Cahul-based Medicine College Nicolae Bularu, and director of the Cahul Railways Profil Barbara. “I am a graduate of the Iasi-based University “A.I.Cuza” and I’m now looking for a job. The employers want persons with experience and thus I cannot find work. Only the PAD suggests policies aimed at solving the problems faced by the youth, solutions to help the young persons find employment and long-term strategies,” said Diana Axenti, a young woman from Cahul, who decided to join the PAD. On June 23, unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea, a former member of the Liberal Democratic Party, launched the political movement Alternative Democratic Platform, arguing that the Liberal democracy promoted by most of the parties in power turned out to be a myth used in election campaigns. On July 2, about 800 members of the local organizations of the Liberal Democratic Party in Chisinau’s Ciocana and Botanica districts and in Gratiesti village announced their intention to join the PAD.
