Former administration of Ministry of Culture illegally modified status of Chisinau Circus

The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) demanded that the Ministry of Culture modify the status of the Chisinau Circus after it established that the Ministry illegally reorganized the Circus from state-run company into joint stock company, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the PG's press service, the state-owned Chisinau Circus was transformed into joint stock company in 2007. The building of the Circus and the adjoining land was included in the company's registered capital. As a result of such a modification, the state became shareholder. After identifying the illegality, the PG asked that the Ministry of Culture modify the organizational-legal form of the company. It also demanded that the Public Property Agency strike the Chisinau Circus off the list of companies put up for privatization, in which it was included under a Government decision of August 2007. The PG also determined that in November 2008, the Chisinau Circus and the foreign capital company Pesenex Developments Limited signed a contract whereby two buildings and the adjoining land situated at 33 Renasterii Blvd. in Chisinau were transferred to the foreign company for a period of 29 years. The Prosecutor General's Office lodged an application with the court, asking that the contract be annulled.
