Formal talks in “5+2” format to be resumed
The official Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the “5+2” format will be renewed. The decision was taken in the consultations held in Moscow on September 22, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Government’s press office.
The Government of Moldova welcomes the decision and says that it represents the logical result of the effort made by all the participants in the negotiation process during the last two years. “We note especially the steps taken by the mediators and observers on behalf of Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE, the EU and the U.S., the contacts within the so-called football diplomacy, the recent conference held under the aegis of the OSCE and the German Government’s effort to strengthen the confidence building measures in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process,” reads the communiqué from the executive.
The of Moldovan Government thanks all the players involved for their dedication and spirit of initiative and reiterates that the territorial reintegration is a priority and thus effort will continue to be made to identify a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Transnistrian dispute.
The next meeting in the “5+2” format, which is yet to be set, will focus on the principles and agenda of the formal Transnistrian conflict settlement talks.
